Okay continuing with the 40 questions with section two:

How are you spending the holidays?

I would like to say quietly and, for the most part, it has been. But we had a noisy Boxing Day at my sister in law’s and we’ll be having another noisy fun day at my mother in law’s tomorrow, for New Years day.

Did you fall in love this year?

In a word, no. As I’ve been living with my partner now for going on 27 years, next year, 2026, will be 28 years together.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

I despise a few politicians, but within the ordinary scope of my life, no, there’s no one I hate. Maybe not happy with, but hate? No.

What was your favourite show?

Like music, there’s no one show I can pin down and say, this was my all time favourite. There were many shows I watched, some I liked, some I loved.

What was the best book you read?

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett was an excellent book one to a new series.

What was your greatest musical discovery of the year?

That I really, really don’t like Beyonce. Sorry, not sorry.

What was your favourite film?

Can I say, Finding Nemo? I watch that one at least once a year. Other than that, maybe Dune II? Did that come out this year? Hell if I know.

What was your favourite meal?

Not what was my favourite meal, but what is my favourite meal. At the moment it’s, chicken, chips, peas and chicken gravy.

What did you want and get?

If you mean, things? I asked for an 80s retro boombox, which I got. What did I wish for going into surgery? To be cancer free. I got my wish.

What did you want and not get?

A new Apple iWatch series 11. But, to be honest, my heart wasn’t in it anyway. I have an original and, as it still works fine, I’m sticking with it till it gives up the ghost.

What did you do on your birthday?

Probably went for a walk, ate some nice food and dreamed of going on holiday to France.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Having access to a car, allowing me to be more mobile about the city.

How would you describe your personal fashion this year?

Fashion? Oh, honey, I’m stuck in a time warp. It’s jeans and tee shirts, sloppy cardigans or sweatshirts. And definitely flip flops.

What kept you sane?

My blog. Reading. My friends on Mastodon. Nature. Ginger beer.

Which celebrity/public figure did you admire the most?

I can’t think of one off the top of my head. No one really stood up or stood out.

What political issue stirred you the most?

Again with the only one thing … people, and the world at large, are devolving into anarchy and chaos, greed and corruption … do you want me to go on? I think we’re all aware but feel powerless to do anything to effect change.

Who did you miss?

My mum.

Who was the best new person you met?

Can I say my surgeon? These people kind of leave an impression on you, literally.

What valuable life lesson did you learn this year?

To live full in the moment as each and every day might be your last. Live life to the full.
