Bridging the Gap

Two bridges for the price of one. I was up at the top of the Montmorency Falls taking this shot, last summer, looking down and out across part of the St Lawrence river to the only bridge that connects to the ile d’Orleans with the rest of the world. It is, in effect, the island’s Golden Gate bridge eh, only this one is green.

Quebec City: Botanic Gardens

No spring/summer is complete here, without at least a weekly trip to the University Laval botanic gardens. These beautiful test gardens are amazing in that every year you find something new and different. In between all the rain we’ve had, I did manage to go take a few photos to share with you. There are some interesting sculptures outside, even before you even get into the gardens themselves. And then, the actual entrance is overhung with greenery making it almost like a hidden, secret doorway … into another world? Due to the sheers size of the gardens, and the overwhelming amount of floral blooms, I’m only going to present a handful here. Funnily enough, they also grow grapes here too. A little early to see any just yet … Then, there are the vista, though they don’t quite show how big these gardens are. And to finish off, a selection of just some of the flowers and blooms I took photos of.

Quebec City: Street Walker

I have to say, I am really enjoying taking walks about my local neighbourhoods snapping this and that, to share. As it means a) I’m out walking more b) have an objective (taking photos) and c) paying more attention to my surrounds, more so than usual because I’m taking photos. So, all-in-all, a win win. Not to bore you more than usual, I waked further afield while the sun was out and discover a few new streets I’ve never walked down and, a play area at the back of a new apartment complex. I was sorely tempted to have a go on the swings but then, decided my grown-ass butt would not fit in the tiny bucket seat. On the walk home I went past a school that was about to empty out for the day, and came across a very long line of buses … I also discovered another Wee Free Library on a street corner. Isn’t this one impossibly cute? It kind of looks like a church, what do you think? No walkabout …
