Two bridges for the price of one. I was up at the top of the Montmorency Falls taking this shot, last summer, looking down and out across part of the St Lawrence river to the only bridge that connects to the ile d’Orleans with the rest of the world. It is, in effect, the island’s Golden Gate bridge eh, only this one is green.

Bridges are an underappreciated miracle. I mean, aren’t they amazing? The engineering that goes into a big bridge is something else. It’s one of those things that just amazes me when I take the time to think about it.
They are, indeed, a marvel of engineering, Nicole and, without them, there would be a lot of people still using ferries to cross back and forth between shorelines.
Though, of course, we have ferry crossings here too, across the St Lawrence from the Old Port.
What a gorgeous view and photo!
Thanks, Suzanne. I got the cable car up to the top of the Falls to take this shot. No way was I walking up several hundred steps.
There’s just something about water and land together that is magical, right? And the bridge is lovely.
It’s like the perfect combination with a blue sky backdrop that makes you want to go hiking. Well, for me it does.
